Box of Charms

What's it all about

Box of Charms is a new sketch project by Comedy Crowd collaborative comic Connor Kent, which looks to explore the characters of life that are often overwhelmingly overlooked. Such as Colin, the documentary presenter with the charm of a rabbit in headlights. Connor is looking to push the Comedy Crowd's creator's platform to it's full potential and collaborate solely with those on our platform, if you're interested in getting involved in anyway and want to know more, then get in touch!

The funding goal is set with sole purpose to be able to cover collaborators expenses and pay for items that will enhance the production value of the 6 part online project, such as props, costumes and filming locations. Those interested in financially supporting the project are welcome to request a full financial breakdown with projected spending.

Fri 22 May 11:55am

WE NEED YOU AND LOTS OF YOU! For a very easy shoot at home Box of Charms social media sketch.

Traffic Wardens Appreciation Tuesdays.

ROLES

DIRECTOR OF TRAFFIC WARDENS (1 performer needed)

AGE - 40's/50's/60's, any ethnicity, any gender. To wear smart attire. Short scripted address to camera.

TRAFFIC WARDENS (15 performers needed)
All ages, ethnicities and genders. To sing 'BIG YELLOW TAXI' by JONI MITCHELL in the style of Gal Gadot and celebrities. Just put your phone in LANDSCAPE and record yourself singing the song. Music MUST NOT be heard, we just want to hear your voice. If you have a Traffic Warden outfit, or something close that will be beneficial. Some will be contacted to provide a scripted testiomal piece to camera too.

THE IDEA:

A short 2 minute social media video, in the style of a charity fundraiser and awareness for the under appreciated and frankly ignored frontline key workers during the coronavirus outbreak - the Traffic Wardens.

This video is trying to raise awareness for Traffic Wardens across the country, and they want the same respect as the NHS, their own clap. This video will be in aid of Traffic Warden Appreciation Tuesdays.

The video will consist of an array of traffic wardens affected by the difficulties that covid-19 brings, and in order to raise funds and alleviate stress for all traffic wardens, they have released this charity video of them singing Joni Mitchell’s ‘Big Yellow Taxi.’ Just as wonderful as Gal Gadot and celebrities singing ‘Imagine.’

The video will start with an introduction from the director of 'The Traffic Wardens Association' giving a brief description of why they are raising awareness and pushing efforts to create an appreciation day etc. The video will cut between the traffic wardens singing along to the song, quick stories from the traffic wardens and how they’ve been affected, and general shots of traffic wardens doing their job, maybe some classic viral videos of members of public having non physical bust ups with traffic wardens.

Connor Kent is a young boy that is no longer as young as he thinks.

That is me.

I've now got a couple of years of experience in all things comedy, and I'm looking throw myself head first into this project in the hope to further stretching my comedic muscles and colloborate with like minded and hugely enthuastic creatives.

Here's a little bit about my background:

I started performing stand up comedy in my hometown 6 years ago, which shortly allowed me to run a succesful open mic night.

I embarked on a UK Tour playing a character in Marc Wootton's 'Shirley Ghosman: Spooktacular' in 2016.

Over the past 2 years I've been lucky enough to work with some of the countries most exciting and talented comics and production crew whilst working on the TV show - 'Taskmaster.' My aim is to put to good use the skills I've gained during this time, whilst focusing on my own ambitions within the industry.

This year I completed the Logan Murray Stand Up Course and that really helped me build my confidence, not only as performer but also as a writer. And that's really where the idea for Box of Charms was born, feeling as though the ideas I've built up over the past 6 years, might actually be worth taking up off the page.

Therefor, this time next year I'd love to look back on one series of Box of Charms with great pride, with some lovely new comedy friends. I hope you feel compelled to be one of them.
